Yumenoshima Tropical Greenhouse Dome
Feel like an explorer as you walk through the Large Greenhouse Domes that are home to tropical plants
This is a botanical museum located at Yumenoshima Park. The Large Greenhouse Domes are about 1,500 square meters in size and modeled after tropical rainforests. They are filled with about 1,000 kinds of plants, creating a tropical mood. The interiors are warm all year round, making this place a hidden gem of a spot where visitors can enjoy feeling as though they have travelled to a tropical destination.
The facility is a 15-minute walk from Shinkiba Station. It uses residual heat from the adjacent New Koto Cleaning Plant for elements such as air conditioning and the supply of hot water within the building.
There are three all-glass Large Greenhouse Domes: Dome A, Dome B, and Dome C. The domes are approximately 28 meters in height with tropical trees almost reaching the ceiling. Dome A's theme is "plants by the water." Tropical water lilies and mangroves grow in the pond, recreating a tropical waterfront landscape.
Inside the dome, a waterfall cascades down with a sound. Visitors can also walk along the walking path to the underside of the waterfall.
Colorful hibiscus flowers.
A "tropical house" roofed with palm fronds stands within Dome B, providing a resting place for visitors during their walk. Many plants bearing fruit such as bananas and cacao can be seen in the surrounding area.
Don't miss out on Japan's only Insectivorous Plants Greenhouse!
The Insectivorous Plants Greenhouse, located beyond the Large Greenhouse Domes, exhibits about nine species of insectivorous plants, including the Pitcher Plant and the Venus Flytrap. While the Utricularia bifida in the photo looks like mere moss, it in fact has many insect traps set up under the ground, which the plant uses to suck up insects found within the ground that it uses for nourishment.
This is Ixora coccinea found blooming in Dome C. In Dome C, visitors can see plants such as the Pandanus boninensis, Clinostigma savoryana, and Schima mertensiana, as well as plants from the Ogasawara Islands, which are registered as a World Natural Heritage site.
At the shop, visitors will find original goods being sold such as key chains and pin badges which feature the Large Greenhouse Domes as motifs. The retro candy tins are the result of a collaboration with candy maker Eitaro. They come in two flavors, brown sugar and vanilla milk, and cost 700 yen each.
There are also many other attractions for visitors to enjoy, such as the Australia Garden and the Grass Fields where water lilies are found blooming. At the project exhibition room, exhibitions are held throughout the year in relation to tropical regions and plants. At the Event Hall, fun workshops for people of all ages are held, such as flower arrangement events and photography classes.

soko station 146
A creative space born out of a warehouse renovation
soko station 146 was created by renovating the second floor of a timber warehouse featuring a ceiling height of 4 meters. It is a platform where people, goods, and events all come together to generate new creations. It is currently used mainly as a café, but also as an exhibition venue and for pop-up stores.
The café is proud to offer customers curry dishes from HARE GINZA, which was a Ginza establishment loved by its customers for 30 years and regrettably closed down in 2021. There are five flavors available: Earth, Massaman, Green, Special, and Yellow. We ordered Half & Half for 1,400 yen and chose the flavors Earth and Green. Coconut milk is mixed with Thai ingredients and spices to bring diners a spicy dish featuring veggies that are both sweet and flavorful. Another important thing to note is that there are four different toppings available, including mackerel with potatoes as well as pickled cucumbers.
The Half & Half Pizza, which allows customers to enjoy both a Margherita and Salad Pizza in one pie, is priced at 1,450 yen. The pizza dough, which was baked to perfection right up to the edges, features a chewy texture.
The interior of the restaurant also consists of a bright and open space that is uniformly white in color.
Original drinks and sweets are also attracting attention
A piece of quiche made using Ça va Can (canned mackerel) from Sanriku, Iwate Prefecture, is 800 yen. The velvety Soy Milk and Almond Milk Pudding is priced at 580 yen. The pudding is vegan-friendly and is flavored with beet sugar and maple syrup.
Herbal Soda Reiu is a mysterious drink that is reminiscent of the ocean depths. Priced at 750 yen, this drink was created in collaboration with tomei. It is a non-alcoholic drink made with herbs and fruits.
Americano coffees and cafe lattes are served in original mugs. Not only do they retain heat, but their vacuum dual-layer structure also makes them comfortable to use without making one's hands hot while holding them.
The pure white table in the center of the café is made up of three overlapping, elongated cuboids that can be transformed and moved around an axis. Visitors can spend their time where and when they want, whether they are working on a PC while standing or enjoying a drink in a chair.
In one corner of the store, items used in the café are found for sale. Enjoy the café atmosphere at home with original mugs, cutlery, one-of-a-kind lampshades, and other special items.

CASICA
A magical space where objects from different eras and countries are brought together in harmony
CASICA, which is adjacent to soko station 146, is a complex facility that was converted from a 40-year-old warehouse. Green grass and trees cover the sunbaked walls of the warehouse, giving the impression of the presence of a powerful life force. Let's open the door and enter the warehouse.
Based on the concept of "visualizing living time and space," CASICA has a store, gallery, café, and photography studio in a space of approximately 990 square meters in size. The store displays and sells a wide range of items, including folk art, interior decorations, tableware, and greenery from around the world.
CASICA PANTRY features impressive Tunisian lampshades. The store offers a wide range of food-related items, from earthenware pots, rice cookers, and other cooking utensils, to preserved foods and seasonings imported from around the world.
Along with very vintage trunks, visitors will also find stools and colorful marché bags made by African tribes on display.
There is a large range of vessels available, from expensive, one-of-a-kind pieces, to more reasonably priced ones. All the shelves and tables used to display products are also for sale.
There are also houseplants available which add flair to the room along with medicinal cooking to improve the five senses
CASICA GREEN has many unusual houseplants, including giant plants that almost reach the ceiling and hanging greenery. The shop also offers a range of items that include pots, stools, and ornaments which showcase the greenery and serve to propose a green lifestyle to visitors.
Arkhé apothecary & kitchen, located in a corner of the shop, offers a menu conceived from the perspective of medicinal cooking based on the concept of getting one's health in order with delicious cuisine. Take a break and enjoy a cup of Japanese-Chinese Chai or Longjing tea for 660 yen each.
Lovery Day of EAT Beau TEA (which is DAYLILY's medicinal tea) features a blend of Japanese and Chinese ingredients such as roselle, hawthorn, and rock sugar. This tea makes the drinker more beautiful through the enjoyment of both food and beverage. KOOSO Enzyme Syrup is a fermented fruit juice extract that is full of fruit extracts. It is also recommended that you serve it either diluted with soda or water, or by pouring it over yogurt or ice cream.
The elegant rice crackers made by Kurisaki Beikoku, a rice wholesaler in Kumamoto Prefecture, come in two varieties, SEA SOLT CARAMEL and EARL GRAY +ORANGE PEEL, with each selling for 750 yen. The crispy texture and subtle sweetness make them irresistible.
The seasonings and snacks are also very special products that are hard to find elsewhere. Where are they made and what do they taste like? It's fun even just imagining.

EDOMAEKISEN
Go on a cruise through the Port of Tokyo on a yakatabune boat. Experience the culture of Edo before boarding the ship!
At EDOMAEKISEN, visitors can enjoy a stylish yakatabune boat tour of the Port of Tokyo. A shuttle bus runs from the bus rotary in front of Shinkiba Station to the boarding dock at the Shinkiba Pier, making it easy to enjoy a tour around the Port of Tokyo.
It takes about 10 minutes to get to the boarding dock via red shuttle bus.
EDOMAEKISEN is located at the reception desk of the boarding dock. Have a look around while you wait for boarding time.
The museum is based on the concept of Edo culture and features a wide range of valuable historical materials that symbolize Edo culture, such as ukiyoe prints and portable shrines. 36 ukiyoe prints are on display, including Ryogoku Grand Sumo Prosperity by Utagawa Kunisato, an Edo period painter.
There are hyoshigi clapping sticks found in front of a gorgeous portable shrine. Tap the sticks together to get into a festive mood. If there are 8 people present, you can actually try carrying the portable shrine by yourselves (please consult with the staff).
This is an actual fan that was used to referee sumo matches. The exhibition also features the three sets of kimonos worn by the Great Yokozuna of the Showa-era, Taihō, as well as an ornamental apron that was actually worn by sumo wrestlers.
Japanese umbrellas, swords, and other Japanese accessories are also found here. Photo spots are also available. With portable shrines and lanterns in the background, you can take pictures while pretending you're a lady of the Edo era.

EDOMAEKISEN at Shinkiba
All-you-can-eat monja with a night view of the Port of Tokyo! Go on a dream cruise that is too good to be true!
The history of yakatabune boats dates back to the Heian era of Japan, when riding on the boats was a pastime for aristocrats and other privileged classes. Later, yakatabune boats were used for fun activities such as fireworks and to enjoy the cool breeze of the evening, spreading to the common folk of Edo.
EDOMAEKISEN at Shinkiba operates the industry's lowest-priced monja yakatabune boat service that is based on the concepts of "safe, clean, and reasonable." The establishment offers a new form of entertainment where visitors can enjoy a gourmet meal at the Port of Tokyo.
The boatman will guide you to the boat, and you will finally be on your way to the Port of Tokyo. The 2-Hour Course on the Original Tsukishima Monja Yakatabune Boat includes boarding, all-you-can-eat monja, and all-you-can-drink beverages (including alcohol), all for 6,900 yen!
The first dish served is the most popular dish, the Spicy Cod Roe Monja. The staff will teach you how to grill it, so have no worries. When you finish eating, feel free to order mixed monja, Thai-style curry monja, or another such dish. In addition to monja, there is a wide variety of food available, like okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and snacks.
The trick is to grill only the ingredients first. Let's try some monjayaki!
Let's make some monjayaki, a local food of Tokyo. First, thoroughly apply oil to the griddle and take out only the ingredients while taking care not to spill any of the dough mixture onto the grill. Then, grill the ingredients and chop them up finely using the tip of the spatula.
When the cabbage has become soft and pliant, make a doughnut-shaped bank and pour the broth into the center. Do not panic if the bank breaks.
When the broth is cooked, break up the bank and stir to combine everything together. Then, add the cod roe to complete the dish! When the edges are crispy and charred, your dish is ready to eat. Worcestershire sauce and dried green laver also go well with it!
Scoop some monja up with your mini spatula and enjoy! Unfortunately, it was raining when the photo was taken, but a view of the buildings on the waterfront area could still be seen out the window.
After sunset, the lanterns on the boats are lit, adding to the atmosphere of the cruise.
The houseboat will proceed from the Shinkiba Pier and head in the direction of Toyosu to the Rainbow Bridge while you enjoy views of places such as Tokyo Tatsumi International Swimming Center, Toyosu Market, and Tokyo Ariake Arena. Odaiba Marine Park and the Fuji Television Headquarters have also come into sight.
Now, let's return our gaze to the griddle and have some Mixed Okonomiyaki next. The staff baked this one for us, so the patterns created by the sauce and mayonnaise are just too beautiful.
Sprinkle a generous amount of roughly-ground bonito flakes to complete the dish. The burnt sauce creates a savory aroma. Drinks available include beer, sake (rice wine), and highballs, as well as soft drinks.
The two hours flew by and we arrived at the Shinkiba boarding dock. This time, we had the all-you-can-eat monja course, but there is also a luxurious course available called Yakatabune Seafood Monja with Two Snow Crab Dishes & Dessert. Another popular service offered is the running of boats for private groups for events such as fireworks displays and for year-end parties.
We took a commemorative photo with the handsome boatman who served as our guide during the cruise! We enjoyed a very satisfying dinner with a tour around the Port of Tokyo along with the taste of Tokyo's famous monja.

Odaiba Marine Park
An urban oasis with views of groups of buildings and the Rainbow Bridge
This seaside park stretches out in front of DECKS Tokyo Beach and Aqua City Odaiba. It's the best location with a stretch of artificial sandy beach extending approximately 800 meters in a bow shape, with a view of the Rainbow Bridge found right in front of you. It is a healing spot that allows you to feel refreshed while feeling the fresh seaside breeze.
Gulls search for food on the white sands of Odaiba Beach. The sand used for the beach here comes from Kōzu-shima, which is one of the Izu Islands.
The ocean at Odaiba was the site where the triathlon was held during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. Part of the inlet is still open for marine sports such as windsurfing and canoeing.
This is the best photo spot to take pictures with the Rainbow Bridge in the background. Depending on the time of day, you can capture a night view where the waterfront turns orange, or you can capture a night view of the Rainbow Bridge.
A wooden deck has been set up in one corner of the seaside area, allowing visitors to stroll comfortably in ordinary shoes.
There were also ornaments such as anchors and chains found on the lawn area. The park has a skywalk (aerial corridor) and the views from the high ground are excellent. There is also a place where you can get up close to the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of Odaiba.

Animeal, a Forest Where Animals Live
An urban zoo where people come to feel relaxed thanks to the presence of adorable animals
Located at DECKS Tokyo Beach, Animeal, a Forest Where Animals Live, is one of the largest urban petting zoos in Japan. The indoor space is divided into three areas: the Park Area, the Adventure Area, and the Terrace Area. Visitors can enjoy their time interacting with animals in each of these areas as they move back and forth between the areas.
There are two fee plans available: 1,980 yen for 45 minutes and 2,530 yen for 90 minutes. A separate order of one drink is required (both include two snack experience gacha instances that can be used in the Adventure Area).
Dogs and cats greeted us in the Park Area. Even though it was our first meeting, the animals were quite charming and sat in the laps of hotel staff.
It is also possible to purchase treats for the animals for 100 yen. I'm going to spoon-feed Sally, a cat with big, bright eyes.
Pukkuru, a mix-breed dog, stares at Sally as she eats. He's a foodie king with piercing eyes.
Mocchi, a Long Coat Chihuahua, is a spoiled little doggie. He sits on my lap and eats his crunchy treats.
Ragdoll Lune appeared in front of the camera as if to obstruct the model. Her standing posture is beautiful.
Nana, a St. Bernard, is good at high-fiving. In the Park Area, big and small dogs alike get along well with one another.
Nattle, a Ragamuffin, is stuck in the clear bowl of the cat tower.
Day and night shifts allow visitors to meet nocturnal animals as well
The outdoor Terrace Area is a comfortable place with a view of the ocean of Odaiba right in front of you. Sai is a Capybara who is relaxing in the bath. Various animals are found sunbathing depending on the time of day.
The Adventure Area is open on a day and night shift basis with picnic time, which is from opening time to 3:00 p.m., and camping time, which is from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Adjusting to their natural rhythm of life, the animals become very lively.
Enjoy a pleasant moment with a drink on the terrace. The establishment is also particular about its drinks. The recommended drink is a refreshing homemade lemonade. All soft drinks are 550 yen. Beer and other alcoholic drinks can be enjoyed for 605 yen.
When you leave, you may be seen off with an art performance. Staff members paint things on the glass using paste-based treats.
Illustration completed! But... Then the cats arrived and licked everything up! These adept cats are able bid visitors farewell and clean up all at the same time.
The animals have a variety of personalities. Some are like spoiled children, some do everything at their own pace, and so on. The key to getting along with them is to wait for them to come to you while maintaining a good amount of distance as you interact with them. The staff will give you advice on anything you don't know when it comes to elements such as the behavior of the animals, so there is no need to worry.

Fuji Television Headquarters
Explore Fuji Television Headquarters as you aim for the shining sphere in Odaiba
We arrived at Fuji Television Headquarters, where the spherical observation deck HACHITAMA shines at the top. There are areas which are open to the public, such as the observation room, museum, and merchandise store. They are open to all visitors. Would you like to take a peek behind the scenes at a broadcasting station that produces various dramas and television programs?
First, take the tube escalator from the plaza on the first floor to the rooftop garden called Fuji-san Terrace on the seventh floor. There, purchase an admission ticket for the observation deck and take the direct elevator to the spherical observation deck called HACHITAMA on the 25th floor.
The spherical observation deck, called HACHITAMA, is a spectacular spot where the upper half of the 32-meter-diameter sphere consists of an observation deck. Looking up at the domed ceiling, you realize that you are really inside a sphere.
The walls of the observation deck have glass windows spanning 270 degrees, allowing visitors to enjoy an exhilarating panoramic view from 100 meters above the ground. There are also chairs available for use in the spacious area, so it is recommended to spend some time relaxing while admiring the view. A telescope by the window allowed us to see distant views on a TV screen.
Outside the window is a panoramic view of the ocean of Odaiba, the Rainbow Bridge, and everything leading up to groups of buildings and Tokyo Tower. On a fine winter day, you can see Mt. Fuji.
From the spherical observation deck (HACHITAMA), walk along the corridor to the elevator for your return trip. Here is a rare view of HACHITAMA from the side. It is a mysterious sight that is akin to a floating sphere.

Crunchy vegetables are added and tasted together with straight noodles that are of a medium thickness. The deep flavor of the soup and the chewy noodles will leave you wanting more and more.
